"Thanks again for the help, you four!" the Feraligatr shouted as he and his partner walked off. They had finished their mission, so there was no reason for them to stay, as appreciative as they were.
The rescuers and rogues waved back, but they still felt disappointed somewhat. They found the perfect spot, but had to put others first. Still, they knew it had to be done.
"So, have you four been busy?" They turned and saw the Celebi running this event, Jasmine.
"I guess you could say that." Larissa responded with her arms folded.
"Oh you wouldn't believe!" Scott shouted. He began to run though what they had just experienced, how excited they were to be planting some berries and how they had to put that aside to help out some other Pokemon.
"It wasn't all that great, either." Alfonso added at the end.
Jasmine shook her head. "Nuh uh! You guys did something really important!" They were all a bit confused by this. "Those Pokemon were in real danger, and you helped them out when they needed someone. It's just like what everyone's doing to help the forest right now."
"But we neglected the mission and left the forest to die..." Larissa looked down shamefully.
"Gosh! You aren't the only ones on this mission y'know?" The Celebi flew down and looked up at her, trying to make her smile.
"But..." Larissa scratched her neck awkwardly. It was understandable, after all, she wanted to help restore her home to its former glory. The forest was a part of her, and-
"Stop being such a stubborn dunderhead! I'm trying my best to cheer you up here! Sheesh!" Jasmine's onion shaped head grew redder in anger, and she placed her arms on her hips.
"Heh. I like this girl." Alfonso snickered.
"Look," Jasmine began with a groan, "you were the only ones who could have helped those guys. It's not like there were teams searching for those two!"
"Yeah," added Nathan. "But it's still a shame we won't be able to see any of our saplings bloom or anything."
"Oh, don't worry about that!" She reached into Nathan's bulb and pulled out a seed about the size of her hand.
"OW!" Nathan winced in pain. She probably wasn't supposed to do that.
"This is all I need. Thanks for contributing!" She flew back toward the forest until she was completely out of sight.
As they watched her fly away, Scott approached Nathan, who was trying to sooth the pain by rubbing his bulb with one of his vines. "I didn't know you had a seed in your bulb this whole time."
"Heh, neither did I..." Nathan sighed.
Larissa approached Nathan. "Listen, sorry if we weren't the nicest to you guys. It's just that..." she was staring down at her feet while she rubbed her claws together. She quickly looked back up, shrugging. "We really haven't meant anybody so enthusiastic or welcoming. It was actually kind of jarring."
Larissa elbowed Alfonso in the arm. "Oh, yeah, I guess I'm sorry too. Yeah"
Nathan waved it off. "Really, don't worry about it. I'm just glad we could work with you to complete this mission. It was actually pretty fun."
Scott jumped up. "Actually, you guys wouldn't be the first to think we were weird at all!"
"Imagine that." Alfonso rolled his eyes.
"But hey," Nathan said, "Maybe, if we ever meet up again, we can help each other out, you know?"
"That sounds fine." She said with a affirming nod, and extended her claw out to Nathan. He met hers with his vine and they shook on it.
Alfonso awkwardly extended his own hand to Scott to do the same. Instead, he was met with another hug.
After a moment, Scott let go in panic. "Oh hey, Nate! We forgot to get those guys' signatures!"
"Oh man," Nathan said in realization, "well maybe we can catch up with them!" He turned back to the two rogues. "Well, it was fun. See you guys around hopefully!" He and Scott began to run toward where the Feraligatr and Houndoom had left, waving back as they did.
Alfonso was left shivering. He had his arms wrapped around each other. He kept his eyes closely on the two until they were completely out of sight.
"That guy is weird..."
"Admit it, Alfonso." Larissa nudged him with a smug smile."You like having a friend."
"Wha? A friend!? He smells funny!" He yelled back, waving his arms, and even dropping his bone club in frustration. "And why're you so smug!?"
"Y-you guys done?"
A violet-eyed Riolu walked towards them both with a small smile and a nervous hand wave. Alfonso dashed to his side and clung to his leg, to which the Riolu responded by staggering back in surprise.
"You sure you should be walking around, Thane?" Larissa asked. He didn't seem like he was in serious pain, but he did wince slightly as Alfonso shook him. It was probably a coincidence, though she wanted to be sure.
"Uhh...y-yeah!" He stammered again, though Larissa made her suspicion obvious. Her arms were crossed and her eyes were narrowed. She would have raised her eyebrows if she had any. "W-well Dahlia doesn't think so, b-but I tried walking a bit and I'm okay."
Larissa sighed. "Whatever. Did you need something?"
Thane's eyes widened. "Oh yeah, someone needed us to track down this Raticate. Apparently he's been stealing supplies from the reconstruction team."
"Finally! We get to beat someone up!" Alfonso hopped back to his feet. "Alright then, let's grab Dahlia and get going! You'll have to give us the details on the way there."
The Cubone jumped up onto Larissa's shoulders, and pointed his bone forward as they marched to their next destination.
